Soca is the river you must have on your whitewater list, it is the mecca of whitewater kayakers.
From the program
- Effective paddling techniques (using as many parts of the body as possible when paddling, stroke length, hand coordination when pulling and pushing the paddle)
- Leg and hip support leaning the kayak in different currents
- Rescue techniques, use of throw bag and lines, belay, rescuing equipment and paddlers, self-rescue
- Swimming (passive-active)
- Communication on whitewater (use of signals)
- Organizing the group, leading the group, closing the group
- Behavior in hydraulic, side surf, escape options
Day 1.
Recapitulation of the basics, paddling technique, organization of the group
Day 2.
Using strong eddies, quick changes of direction, keeping the line (leg and hip, hooking)
Day 3.
Hydraulic -theory/practice (swimming, insurance, rescue techniques, communication)
Day 4.
Reading the rapids, choosing a line, recap, paddling
Required level: wwIII- III+ stable
Level of rivers: according to flow, WWIII;WIII+; WWIV easy
Required equipment: thermal protection (wetsuit or jacket, dry suit for swimming) whitwater pfd (with D-ring), 3 carabiners, prussik, flip line, floats bags (front, back) in kayaks
